What is Covered California?

Covered California (CoveredCA) is a part of the Health Insurance Marketplace created by the Affordable Care Act (ACA).  CoveredCA offers individuals a choice of qualified health and dental plans and tools for making informed choices.  Eligible individuals have access to federal premium assistance.  You will use the Covered California website to apply for coverage, compare plans, and enroll.

Why Pediatric Dental is Required

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires pediatric oral benefits as part of the 10 essential health benefits offered by medical plans to individuals and small employers. In California, all Covered CA health plans automatically include embedded pediatric dental benefits, which only provide dental benefits for family members up to age 19. Only standalone dental plans offer dental coverage for both children and adults and are purchased separately.
