They also made travel dangerous, caused worries about avalanches, and shut down mountain passes in the Sierra Nevada. In Glenn County, roads were closed and travel was unsafe, and County Road 306 could not be passed because of storm damage and debris. On January 11, 2026, a large sewer pipe broke on Robin Lane in the City of Clearlake in Lake County, spilling an about 2.9 million gallons of sewage into neighborhoods. To respond, local workers cleaned the affected wells and water sources. They tested the groundwater and used pump trucks to stop the spill. Then they set up more than 48 water storage tanks and placed 105 systems to clean the water. They also helped the community by rerouting traffic and gave health and safety warnings. They provided clean drinking water, showers, temporary housing, and other services. The state continues to look into what caused the break.
