John Carvelli is a Director and Executive Vice President of the LIBERTY Dental Plan group of companies, a national dental benefits administrator. He has been with the company since just shortly after its inception and has used his extensive experience in healthcare business, financial, and regulatory matters to help build it into a fast-growing, nationwide enterprise.

Prior to joining LIBERTY in 2004, John completed a multi-year project directing a hospital and integrated medical community clinic system in Los Angeles, CA. The project included the management and work-out of one of the oldest and largest community healthcare delivery systems in Los Angeles County.

In 1996, John established a business and public affairs consulting company called Empire Pacific, LLC that has provided services for healthcare companies including the Children’s, Adventist, Tenet and Sharp Healthcare systems.

John is active in political and community activities and in 2014 was appointed by Governor Jerry Brown to serve as a member of the California State Athletic Commission. John is currently Chairman of the Commission.

John is a certified and active coach in the AYSO Region 57 Community Soccer organization. He is also an active member of the Newport Harbor Yacht Club participating in sailing and angling activities.

John earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from The Catholic University of America (CUA) in Washington, D.C. While in Washington, he served as a press aide to former United States Senator Bill Bradley of New Jersey and interned on Capitol Hill in the U.S. House of Representatives.

John Carvelli married the former Kathryn Schrader in 1989. Kate and John have three daughters, a son-in-law, a dog and two cats and reside in Newport Beach, CA.
