John Carvelli

Executive Vice President

John has been with LIBERTY Dental Plan (LIBERTY) since shortly after its inception. John’s extensive experience in healthcare business, financial, and regulatory matters helped build LIBERTY into a leading nationwide enterprise it is today. John continues to oversee LIBERTY’s advocacy and corporate affairs. John also currently serves on the California Association of Dental Plans Board of Directors.

Prior to joining LIBERTY in 2004, John completed a multi-year project directing a Los Angeles hospital to integrate medical community clinic systems. The project included the management and work-out of one of the oldest and largest community healthcare delivery systems in Los Angeles County, California. In 1996, John established a business and public affairs consulting company called Empire Pacific, LLC that provided services for healthcare companies, including the Children’s Adventist, Tenet and Sharp Healthcare systems.

John earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from The Catholic University of America (CUA) in Washington, D.C. While in Washington, he served as a press aide to former United States Senator Bill Bradley of New Jersey and interned on Capitol Hill in the U.S. House of Representatives.

John is active in the community, and in 2014 was appointed by Governor Jerry Brown to serve as a member of the California State Athletic Commission. John is currently Chairman of the Commission. John is a certified and active coach in the AYSO Region 57 Community Soccer organization. He is also an active member of the Newport Harbor Yacht Club participating in sailing and angling activities.
