“Back to School Dental Check-up” Announcement Concerning Los Angeles and Sacramento Medi-Cal Managed Care Programs

08/13/2012

IRVINE, CA (August 13, 2012)—LIBERTY Dental Plan (LIBERTY) has launched an effort to help Los Angeles and Sacramento kids and their families get ready for the new school year.

LIBERTY’s Member Services Representatives are conducting a “Back to School Dental Check-up Program,” an outbound call campaign to remind parents about state law requiring school aged children to receive an oral health assessment no later than May 31st of their first year in public school, either kindergarten or first grade. LIBERTY’s Representatives will also be available to help the parents find an available, in-network dentist and book their child’s appointment over the phone.

“The problem is most parents try to take their children in just before the school year starts so offices become overbooked and it can be difficult to get an appointment,” explains Beth Tillman, LIBERTY’s Director of Member Services and supervisor of the call campaign. “By reminding members well in advance, and assisting them with making a dental appointment for their children as early as possible, we hope to help them avoid the rush.”

The initiative was launched beginning early August, and aims to reach the parents of several thousand young students. “We are proud to do our part to make sure our youngest members can start school with a healthy smile,” commented LIBERTY’s Executive Vice President John Carvelli. “We started this campaign not just to help parents, but because we believe that every child should be able to focus on their education without suffering from any dental issues.”
